GSA Image Analyser is a program created for scientific image analysis and evaluation of 2D images.

GSA comes with many possibilities that are best summed up in three groups: Object length calculation, Object surface calculation and Object counting.

It allows for automatic calculation of the surface for all recognized objects. Single objects’ surface can also be calculated.

There is a possibility for calculation of the different relations of the ascertained surfaces to each other or to the complete image or the background.

This piece of software comes with special set of functions that were created for use during the direct length calculation of extremely complex and ramified objects. First example that comes to mind to be an example of ramified object is the plant root.

Next to the direct length calculation there is a possibility for indirect calculation with support for grid intersection. Grid intersection support allows the grid size to be defined freely by the user.

The automatic count function can successfully count and reach the conclusive number of all recognized object and it also offers the ability for counting overlapping objects apart from the recognized objects.

Besides the option for automatic counting, there are also to procedures for manual counting included in the software. First method allows you to count objects by marking the objects inside of the image, while the second method cuts the image into few smaller parts making it easier for you to spot an follow higher number of smaller objects.
